Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor and Portland, Maine, is the only accredited theological school in the three northern New England states. Its emphasis is ecumenical and students from all mainline Protestant denominations are enrolled.

The Master of Divinity degree (M.Div.) is open to persons with baccalaureate degrees. Under the unique "Bangor Plan," persons age 21 and over who have not yet completed their college education enroll in two years of pre-theological study in the liberal arts and sciences, and are then admitted to the theological program. Upon completion, they are awarded the Seminary Diploma and are expected to continue their education by transferring to a college or university of their choice.

Bangor Theological Seminary also offers the Master of Arts degree, an academic program requiring a baccalaureate degree upon entrance, and the Doctor of Ministry degree, offered to persons with at least three years in the full-time practice of ordained ministry and an M.Div.

The "Bangor Plan" described above is a special program for adults who seek a second vocation. Annual "Convocation Lectures" at the end of January feature three internationally known scholars for a three-day event. A wide range of continuing education opportunities are also offered, including a certificate in small church leadership.

President: Rev. Dr. William C. Imes
Director of Admissions: Michael K. Huddy
Director of Financial Aid: Brian Moody
