Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) School of Nursing offers a two-year (four-semester) State, Regional, and N.L.N. accredited coeducational registered nurse education program leading to an Associate Degree in the Applied Science of Nursing. Located in Lewiston, the school is near shopping districts, churches, libraries, athletic facilities, and a day/night ski area.

Formerly known as the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, the school was founded in 1891, and is situated within the Central Maine Medical Complex, facilitating the student's orientation to the art and science of nursing and the registered nurse's role in hospitals and similar settings.

All courses in the nursing major are taught by the faculty of C.M.M.C. School of Nursing. Eight general education courses totaling 27 credits are taken at any regionally accredited college or university and submitted for approval for transfer to the school.

Graduates are awarded an Associate Degree and are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses. C.M.M.C. School of Nursing graduates are employed as registered nurses throughout the United States.

An Advanced Placement program is available for qualified applicants who meet the criteria for advanced placement. The applicants may challenge Semester I or Semesters I and II of the four-semester program, thus saving up to one year of full-time enrollment in the program. Credit is awarded for NUR 101 Fundamentals in Nursing upon successful completion of a Transition Seminar. Please call the school for more information.

Various extension courses for graduates are offered during the academic year.

Other course offerings include C.N.A., C.N.A.-M, Medical Terminology and R.N. Refresher.
