Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) offers a broad variety of college level arts, sciences, and technical curricula. The emphasis in all cases is on the application of knowledge. While education for immediate employment is an essential goal in the technical programs, the greater goal is to develop the potential for growth and change, achieved either through advancement in one's chosen career path or by pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
SMCC is dedicated to providing a high quality program of instruction and recognizes the importance of scholastic and technical knowledge, as well as the development of skills. The College provides integrated technical, related and liberal studies education courses to enable students to develop self-awareness and social responsibility, as well as skills in order to compete successfully in a chosen field.
SMCC currently serves over three thousand students annually in a wide variety of non-credit courses, seminars, and training sessions with emphasis placed on the working person/part-time student. These courses enable a person to upgrade his/her present career/trade, or to acquire skills for a career change.
