The University of Maine (U of M) offers a comprehensive range of baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree programs. The University of Maine is Maine's Land Grant University and Sea Grant College.

Academic programs are offered in the Colleges of Business, Public Policy and Health, Education and Human Development, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. Nationally renowned interdisciplinary programs include those in Canadian Studies, International Affairs, and Quaternary Studies. Outstanding students may participate in an Honors Program taught by faculty from each of the five colleges.

Supporting the teaching and research mission of U Maine is the Raymond Fogler Library, the largest library in Maine. Extensive computer facilities bolter UMaine's academic mission.

Nearly 3,500 students live in residences on the 3,295-acre campus bordering the Stillwater River. Complete sports programs for men and women take place in an extensive athletic complex. Black Bear teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The BUS (Bachelor of University Studies) degree program is designed to serve the needs of busy, active adults. Offered through the Division of Lifelong Learning, the BUS program provides highly motivated part-time adult students the opportunity to complete degree work in an individiually planned degree program.
